ADULTS


ACTING FOR THE STAGE I: The Actor’s Process
Have you always wanted to try acting? Are you looking for ways to be more confident on stage? Or maybe you just want to sharpen your skills and improve your craft. Acting for the Stage I checks all of those boxes.
This level I course will cover the basic performance skills needed for more confident, natural stage acting, and give you the tools and techniques that you need to improve. Topics will include the fundamentals of vocal and physical performance, listening and being in the moment, playing action and using tactics, as well as tools, tips
The course is perfectly tailored for community theatre actors and directors from 18 – 88 years of age. Come explore and fun with your fellow actors!

ACTING FOR THE STAGE II: Scene Study
This is an advanced scene study course. For those who have completed Acting for the Stage I, this next level will build on the previous foundations and dive into scene study, character development, breaking down a script, working with directors, rehearsal techniques and more. Emphasis will be placed on scene work, rehearsal, and hands-on, in-class coaching sessions.
The final class may include a performance (of the scenes developed) for friends and family if students agree.
NOTE: If you have a good deal of experience on stage and believe you understand the fundamentals, please contact Barbra to discuss which course would be right for you.

ACTING FOR THE STAGE III: Creating Character
infCreating Character explores how to develop realistic, captivating characters with strong story arcs and engaging personalities. We will begin by looking for clues in the script, move into effective rehearsal techniques, and take the process through to polishing a fully-fleshed out personality in performance. Whether comic or dramatic, hero or villain, lead or supporting role, this course will help actors create characters that audiences will fall in love with.
The class is designed for the actor who is looking to hone their skills both in rehearsal and in performance. Those who have taken Acting for the Stage I and/or II, or anyone who has a good deal of experience on community stages would benefit from this advanced course.

TEENS
IMPROV FOR TEENS
This class is designed for budding actors and comedians. If you love to make people laugh and enjoy being spontaneous, then this is the class for you! Improv for Teens will show you how to create entire scenes from scratch right in front of the audience AND help you hone your performance skills. Improv is one of the best preparations for beginning actors, and this class is highly recommended as a prerequisite for Intro to Acting and all further study.

INTRO TO ACTING
This foundational class introduces the student to the basics of acting for the stage: voice, body, presence, listening, action, character and theatre etiquette. Students will emerge familiar with and primed for forays onto high school and community stages.

Thrive! is a program specially designed for seniors living in active living communities and independent or assisted living residences. The program is meant to offer seniors the opportunity to pursue their interests, meet people in a safe and friendly setting, access their creative talents and help improve quality of life. As studies have shown, the performing arts improve cognitive function, memory, mood and motor skills; Thrive! is not only fun, it’s good for overall health.
